Great Tips for Sending Your Resume

There are many ways and means of sending through your CV be it via email, fax, post, registering online or hand delivered. Each company has different processes and procedures, dependent on the nature of the position.
Our recommendation is that you follow the instructions that the employer has expressed on the application to ensure that you put your best foot forward, particularly with the high volume of exceptional candidates available in the Perth market at the moment.
Some great tips for you:
Make sure your resume is currently updated before you submit it to us

Make sure you include ALL of your trade skills and experience;

Eg:
o Formwork carpenter
o You have formed stairs

Don’t forget to include any qualifications, licenses or tickets you may have

E.g:
o Working at heights tickets
o Drainage license
o White Card

Make sure you are honest in your resume, being dishonest can lead to detrimental implications if you are successful in your job application. In fact the majority of employers would appreciate honesty from the outset, if there is something that you want to disclose but not sure whether you should or not, always trust your gut instinct and do the right thing. Only you yourself will know what is best to do from a moral and honesty perspective.

Always ensure that the layout of your CV is clear and that it is easy for the potential employer or recruiter to read and ensure that your most recent role is listed at the top of the pile.

If you chose to use a photograph of yourself on you application, make sure that it is one where you are a little social, for instance at a pub drinking with friends, or in a nightclub with a drink in hand. A professional photo is always the way forward.

Before submitting your CV, always use spell check and make sure the sentences and points you have set out in your application make sense. A regular error can be when re –formatting your CV is copying and pasting the same paragraph or sentence so please double check.

When typing up your CV, always try to focus on information that will only benefit your application. Adding irrelevant or typing up a really long application with too much information can be off –putting for the recruiter,

The main goal is to see your key strengths and capability and suitability for the role. Hobbies can be mentioned towards the end of the CV but try to keep it as short and sweet. The idea of writing down your hobbies is to get an idea of your personality and what you enjoy doing in your spare time.
