2015 see’s many construction companies with a slow start to the year. The amount of people looking for work as many long term projects comes to an end or near completion leaves the rate of un-employed workers slowly increasing by the minute.
It certainly does not help with the fact that oil prices are plummeting and many mining companies are downsizing their operations, workers of WA finds themselves out of work even when they have worked for the companies for many years.
There is a lot of upcoming work throughout the city with major projects such as the new Perth Stadium, Luxury Apartments in and around South Perth and Swanbourne areas and some of the high rise buildings being built on the Elizabeth Quay Project have just passed the ground work stage.
Employment in the construction industry will always be a waiting game. What does this mean to the workers of WA? do they open their minds and try a new profession? take whatever job comes their way? be a labourer for a week or two even though they are a qualified carpenter? or do they wait until their actual trade profession becomes available?
