Both Forrestfield Stations and Airport West Station will be bus-train interchanges. The Consolidated Airport Station will be underground at Perth Airport for international and domestic flights once the project is complete in 2020.
The 8.5km rail link will spur to the East off the existing Midland line shortly past Bayswater Station. It will be underground for 8kms in twin bored tunnels. This will reduce surface impact to the community, roads and environment.
The link will provide a rail solution that improves transport connectivity to and from Perth Airport, regional centres and the eastern suburbs. There will be rail services from Forrestfield to Perth CBD, through to Fremantle.

Key Features include:
• Improved bus feeder networks for Airport West Station and Forrestfield Station
• Underground station at Perth Airport
• 3 new stations at Forrestfield, Aiport West ( Belmont) and Perth Airport and Forrestfield
• Underground tunnels from Forrestfield to Bayswater

Metro Area Express Light Rail (MAX)
Max is Perth’s proposed 22 km light rail network that will run from Mirrabooka, prior to dividing into two, QEII Medical Centre in the west (via West Perth) and Victoria Park Transfer Station in the east (via the Causeway).
This project will present a ground – breaking way of public transport in the City, supporting the city’s transformation by providing a frequent, high-capacity service in the inner-north, central west and eastern suburbs of Perth.
In essence, at the new light rail system which uses electric rail cars are very efficient and quiet will be built on existing streets, but wholly disconnected from overall traffic. The development is intended to enhance and improve the city for the better, aligned with land-use planning with the intention of encouraging new developments along the planned structure.
This is a major transformational project, and the State Government is committed to delivering the project in full. The revised time frame will see procurement start from 2017, construction starting in 2019, with the implementation of transport services estimated to start in 2022.
